Concrete Walkway & Driveway Repair in Provo, UT: How We Lifted, Leveled & Protected a Sinking Sidewalk

Concrete Walkway & Driveway Repair in <a href=Provo, UT: How We Lifted, Leveled & Protected a Sinking Sidewalk - Image 1" width="640" height="480">

If you’ve noticed a sinking walkway, visible cracks in your driveway, or hollow-sounding concrete near your home, you’re not alone—especially here in Provo, Utah. Uneven concrete is one of the most common issues homeowners face across Utah County, and it’s not just a cosmetic problem. Left untreated, it can lead to water drainage issues, tripping hazards, and further damage over time.

The Problem: A Void Under the Walkway in Provo

Our customer reached out with a concern about a noticeable gap forming beneath the concrete walkway leading up to their front door. At first glance, it might not have seemed like a major issue—but as you can see in the before photo, the slab was hollow underneath, creating a void large enough to compromise the walkway’s stability.

This wasn’t just an eyesore. The homeowner was rightly concerned that the slab could settle further, eventually crack, or even create a tripping hazard for guests. Given Utah’s freeze-thaw cycles and clay-heavy soils, voids like these can worsen quickly if not properly addressed.

What Causes Concrete Voids in Utah?

In Provo and throughout Utah County, a few common issues contribute to this kind of concrete failure:

 • Expansive clay soils that swell and shrink with moisture levels

 • Improper soil compaction during the original construction

 • Water runoff or poor drainage eroding the soil beneath the slab

 • Heavy foot or vehicle traffic putting stress on unsupported areas

Because of these factors, sunken or uneven concrete is a frequent call we receive—and fortunately, we have a proven system to repair it without the need for costly replacements.

The Solution: PolyLevel® + NexusPro® + SealantPro™

To address this sinking walkway and connected driveway, our crew proposed a full Concrete Protection System—a three-part solution designed to lift, level, and protect concrete surfaces for the long term.

Step 1: PolyLevel® Concrete Lifting

We began by injecting 77.10 lbs of PolyLevel® foam beneath the sinking concrete slab. This high-density polyurethane expands upon injection, lifting the concrete with precision and filling any voids underneath.

Unlike traditional mudjacking, PolyLevel is:

 • Lightweight (doesn’t add weight to the soil),

 • Waterproof (won’t wash out),

 • Fast-curing (walkable within 15 minutes).

As shown in the after photo, the slab was fully supported and brought back to level—restoring both safety and curb appeal.

Step 2: NexusPro® Joint and Crack Sealant

Once the slab was leveled, we sealed 245 linear feet of joints and cracks using NexusPro®, a professional-grade joint sealant designed to withstand UV rays, temperature extremes, and moisture intrusion.

Why seal the joints?
Open or deteriorating joints allow water to seep below the surface—causing soil washout and setting the stage for future voids and settling. NexusPro not only protects against water intrusion, but also gives the concrete a cleaner, well-maintained appearance.

Step 3: SealantPro™ Surface Protection

Finally, we treated 965 square feet of concrete with SealantPro™, a permanent concrete sealant that protects against staining, water damage, and surface deterioration.

SealantPro bonds with the concrete at a molecular level and creates a hydrophobic layer that:

 • Repels moisture and harmful chemicals

 • Prevents future cracking and flaking

 • Enhances durability in freeze-thaw conditions

For Utah’s dry summers and snowy winters, this added protection is essential.

The Result: One-Day Transformation with Long-Term Benefits

This Provo concrete repair project was completed in just one day—with zero demolition, zero waste, and minimal disruption to the homeowner’s daily life. The sunken walkway was lifted, the joints were sealed, and the surface now has a protective coating to guard against future damage.

“The customer was extremely happy with the results,” said the project lead. “They appreciated not only the improved look but also the peace of mind knowing the concrete is now stable and protected for years to come.”

Why Homeowners in Provo Choose PolyLevel Over Concrete Replacement

In the past, sunken concrete often meant costly demolition and replacement—but not anymore. With advanced technologies like PolyLevel and SealantPro, homeowners in Utah can restore their concrete faster, cleaner, and more affordably.

Here’s how our system compares to replacement:

Feature Traditional Replacement PolyLevel System
Time to Complete 2–5 days 1 day
Mess / Disruption High Low
Long-Term Waterproofing None Included (SealantPro)
Cost $$$ $$
Eco-Friendly No Yes (no slab disposal)
